To operate Intrastate (locally), the permits you need are:

  • Secretary of State (SOS) Registration. 
  • Employer Identification Number (EIN) is a unique number that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) assigned to your company.
  • USDOT is a unique number for businesses that operate as cargo carriers in the United States. It must be registered through the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
  • The Annual Road Tax Form (2290), this Tax is paid to the IRS to use the roads (vehicles weighing more than 55,000lbs).
  • RANDOM TEST DRUGS & ALCOHOL/CLEARINGHOUSE if applicable (when having a commercial driver's license and operating a commercial vehicle that weighs more than 26,000lbs).
  • Depending on the state you decide to operate, you will have to get special permits such as TXDMV - CA# - MCP - etc.

To operate Interstate, you need:

  • Secretary of State (SOS) Registration.
  • Employer Identification Number (EIN). 
  • USDOT is a unique number for businesses that operate as cargo carriers in the United States. It must be registered through the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
  • Motor Carrier Number (MC#) The MC is a permit that grants businesses to transport cargo out of state.
  • Blanket Of Company (BOC-3) List of lawyers that the DOT assigns to your company for free in case you have any legal problems out of state.
  • Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) is an annual tax that is paid in order to transit through the 41 states.
  • The Annual Road Tax Form (2290), this Tax is paid to the IRS to use the roads (vehicles weighing more than 55,000lbs).
  • An international fuel tax agreement (IFTA) is an account provided to your company to report the purchase of diesel/fuel outside of your company's home state.
  • The International Registration Plan (IRP) government office that provides and processes your trucks license plates.
  • RANDOM TEST DRUGS & ALCOHOL/CLEARINGHOUSE if applicable (when having a commercial driver's license and operating a commercial vehicle that weighs more than 26,000lbs).
  • Must acquire an  Electronic Logging Device (ELD) for trucks after 2000 and has more than 100 miles in transit .
